1 CommentA lot of thought goes into the design of fonts.
Here’s a little write up describing design techniques that we probably all take for granted.
Forgot it.
Darn it.
I should put a tip cup on my desk at work.

6 CommentsI made this shirt to give has Christmas presents to the roommates in… was it last Christmas? I don’t remember. In any case, they came out awesome.
Authored by: mike d.Actually, I don’t even really like this shirt. But it’s pretty darn durable, and for that it deserves mention.
This is that first Double Dutch t-shirt I mentioned earlier today.
This shirt was given to me by a professor I work with down in Texas.
I like this shirt.
Authored by: mike d.Theresa gave me this shirt as a gift. She wooed a ninja, and then stole this shirt from his backpack.
Authored by: mike d.I made 6 of these shirts when I was putting together a care package to send to Roland. 2 of the 6 came out very poor. the other four are owned by me, Roland, Jesse, and Kurt who won his at Shaun McQuaid’s Christmas extravaganza.
Theresa gave me this t-shirt one year for Christmas. It is perfectly geeky.
I think if you wanted one, you could get it from shamplade.com
Authored by: mike d.Kurt, JonAbad, Sammy G, and I performed Destiny child’s “Say my name” at an open mic in Worcester while wearing these shirts.
It was amazing.
when Paul Scott showed me this little piece of math humor, I immediately knew that it had to be screened into a shirt. This might be my favorite color for a t-shirt as well. It’s hot.
Theresa sent me this shirt while I was away in London.
It’s true. I do love my mom. she’s pretty great.
Authored by: mike d.My sister Alicia gave me this shirt for my birthday a few years back.
My first ascent of Connecticut’s famous 5.9 Thor’s Hammer was accomplished while wearing this t-shirt. It was a glorious day of rock climbing.
Back at WPI Nina gave me this shirt. It says:
Sportsplex
Summer Racqetball Invitational
1983
We’ve had a number of double dutch events. The first t-shirt was yellow and depicted a few sweet iconic double dutchers doing awesome moves. This one was a bit more stylistic. It came out great on the red shirt. Oh good times.
Here’s a picture of a bunch of us wearing our triumphant Double Dutch t-shirts
Awhile back Caitlin M. asked me to do some MSPaint for the WPI theater group. The show had something to do with Picasso and Einstein. So I came up with this little ditty. I’m extremely pleased in the way it came out.
In one of my first weeks at Kung Fu, I forgot part of my uniform. It was horribly embarrassing.
And until five weeks ago, my uniform attendance was perfect… That’s when I forgot my shirt. But I was in luck! it was T-shirt week at Kung Fu!!!! I made a quick purchase ($20) and went to class in this T-shirt.
Despite its appearance, this shirt is not solid gold.
Authored by: mike d.In 2004 I went to Denmark on a school trip. Afterwards I backpacked across Europe with a few friends. I went down to Italy with JB, then met up with Joe, and zipped up to Interlaken, Switzerland. In interlaken I had four of the most extreme days I’ve ever had. Those four days cost well over $800 but I went white water rafting, mountain biking in the alps, canyoning, and skydiving. With all sorts of volleyball and great BBQ’s mixed in. It was pure luxury.
After diving from the sky, I bought this t-shirt as memorabilia.
Oh what an amazing trip that was.
Authored by: mike d.For the rest of today you will be subject to my vast array of awesome T-shirts. First up? Breakfast squad.
I designed and screened this shirt with Jesse’s help for a breakfast event we had at work. Things to note: Halo warthog similarities, sweet license plate, awesomely buff pancake head dudes.
Authored by: mike d.Here is my favorite Shirt.
It is a Light Grey polo from Threadless.com. It has Buddy the Bluebird in a faux left breast pocket. Buddy hurt his head while flying and I’m taking care of him. Unfortunately, “taking care of him” means getting drunk with him

And to tell you the truth I don’t remember this photo. I’ll ask buddy what happened here.

UPDATE! Everyone will be happy to hear that Buddy is doing well. He is doing well in rehab. But since he insists on coming out drinking with me he keeps backsliding and forgetting what he learned in his last rehab session. Keep on Trucking little Buddy!
Authored by: mike d.My favorite shirt is boring in most ways, so I’m choosing to instead talk about this shirt:
(shirt not pictured, as where else could it be)
It’s from the intersite/book Mentally Incontinent, which I discovered in late 2005. I actually bought the shirt at the same time I ordered the book, which was probably a poor decision. I guess when the order went through, it was already somewhat final that I liked the book enough to wear a (awesomely-designed) shirt featuring its logo.
The day after I recieved the package, I’d read the book and was wearing the shirt. I got EXTREME GLUE on it, which then hardened into steel. Then, it ripped.

Also, I own this T-shirt, which rules.

How did I get these t-shirts? Well, friends, I bought them.
Authored by: mike d.This is my favorite shirt. I silk screened the front and back of it
with instructions for assembling the IKEA JULES chair
(http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20064604). It came out
really nicely.
I was wearing this shirt when I broke my collar bone
(http://www.plasticvicar.com/drop/collar1.jpg). When the EMT went to
cut the shirt off me, I said “aw man, that’s my favorite shirt!” and
he said “ok then, raise up your arms and we’ll take it off the normal
way.” Those of you who have broken a collarbone know that this is
impossible, but I managed to get him to only make one cut on the
shirt.
I bought this shirt at the Abbey Road Studio while I was a student in London. I was lucky enough to be in the city during the first ever Abbey Road Film Festival. The festival showcased several of the most successful films of all time, each film featuring a memorable score that was recorded in Abbey Road Studio 1. Think ‘Indiana Jones,’ most of the ‘Star Wars’ movies, ‘Lord of the Rings,’ … etc. I got to see ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark,’ which has always been a favorite of mine. John Williams was in the same studio within a few weeks of the festival to record the ‘Star Wars Episode III’ score. Word.

The t-shirt was purchased right down the hall from Studio 1, in Abbey Road Studio 2. Studio 2 is a quaint little setup that, in its heyday, was frequented by a little band affectionately known as THE FREAKING BEATLES. The studio had never been open to the public before. So… yeah, that was amazing.
Please note that this shirt is waaaaaay too small for me. I think I must have been delusional when I bought it in this size (UK MED, US XXXS). I’ve never actually worn it. Someday, I hope to be able to undergo a drastic surgical procedure that will allow me to actually wear this shirt so that people will finally believe that I really have been to Mecca.
