Ritual.

It’s like this every time I travel for work. Hands so dirty that I decimate a toothbrush in my efforts to rid my hands of the grime. Usually I remember to wash at the factory… which is far better because you can use their handy dandy soaps. This time though, I forgot.

Dirty Dirty Hands from mikedidonato on Vimeo.

We’ll continue this ritual tomorrow night.

I am impressed! I didn’t think your hands would ever get clean!

Now I have a few questions…
Why did one hand look like it was plunged into the LaBrea Tar Pits, and the other was only moderately dirty?
Do you bring an extra toothbrush with you all the time just in casem, or is it a hotel store purchase?
Which toothbrush works best?
And finally…What was with the gratuitous Bicep Flex at around 1:45 in the video?

No bicep flexes are ever gratuitous.

How long did it take?

Two things:

1) That video was ENTIRELY too long, which leads me to believe you are wasting A LOT of your time scrubbing.

2) http://www.permatex.com/brand_fast_orange.htm
I’m sure they have a travel size… you know, just for such occasions. I bet the cost for a small bottle is less than the value of your time, and work would probably cover it anyway.

Mike, have you tried using surgical gloves? One of our mechanic friends (m.c.) uses them, keeping his hands nice and clean while he works on the greasy engines, etc.

My dad always said the best way to get grease out from under your fingernails was to knead bread dough.

Wow. A couple interesting things here.

1) it seems a lot of people watched the whole clip. I really expected most of you to shut it off after about fifteen seconds.

2) Normally, if I remember to wash my hands at the factory they have fast orange equivalents which are about twice as good as the gritty citrus goo. Sadly… yesterday I forgot to wash at the shop.

3) Hotels will give you free toothbrushes if you ask. This poor toothbrush was one of those.

4) It took about 7 minutes per hand. My left hand is clean because I did that one first… and while cleaning it I thought it might make a sweet video. Is it a waste of time? Nah. Many times while on the road it’s hard to FIND ways to waste your time.

okay, well that was mesmerizing. i couldn’t stop watching.

your skin must be buttery smooth after that. or raw and the opposite of buttery smooth.

Didn’t you learn your lesson from the foot flexing video!? you’re going to get some pervert who loves to watch people clean their dirty dirty hands sending you messages like “hey sailor, how about fish guts next time?” or “mmmm how about making some mud pies and letting me watch…”
