Rock Climbing Tip!

When you’re setting gear, keep your heels in a ‘down‘ position instead of an ‘up‘ position. It’ll save a lot of energy and will make your calves not hate you.

Thanks for the advice! I definitely think I tend to keep my heel in the “up” position, at least it seems that way the next day when my biggest challenge of the morning is walking up a flight of stairs.

Agreed.

Whitestone Cliffs were *awesome* yesterday. I wish you could have joined us.

Me too! :-( Glad to hear you had a good time. I was reviewing literature all day for a defense I have to give tomorrow, wish me luck!

Did you lead anything yesterday?

Its better to keep your heel ON something, so that you don’t have to weight your calves at all. Even just a little bit of sidesteppin’ heel shmearin’ makes all the difference.
Practicing placing gear helps too, the less time fiddling, the less time spent standin’ around
