On a burger would be about the only way I'd eat a fried egg. I generally don't like eggs. I'll have to try this sometime. Wonder if Perkins' would do that...hmm...

I first experienced fried eggs on burgers in Australia. If you order a burger "with the works" it comes with egg, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pineapple, beetroot, onion, and sauce. It's yummy, except for the beets. I'd usually order a "burger with the works, but no beets". Once, the guy taking the order thought I said "no beef", and he asked me again. It was my silly American accent.

When I came back to the dorms the following year, I always had an egg on my burger for weekend brunch, the only time of the week they served both breakfast and lunch stuff together.

"We take eighteen ounces of sizzling ground beef, and soak it in rich, creamery butter, then we top it off with bacon, ham, and a fried egg. We call it the Good Morning Burger."

In Argentina, a fried egg on a burger is pretty common, I never heard of it here though, except when trying to explain it to the diner waitress myself...
"No, I don't want it on the side, put it ON the burger"

this is why texas has been considered america's fattest state in the past. a fried egg on a hamburger? if they're going to go that far why not throw some jelly beans, chocolate, and a pound of crisco on top of the egg for good measure. at least you can go down in style when you can't breathe because all the fat is squeezing the bejesus out of your lungs.
