The Sauce is the Boss.

December 5th, 2006 by mike d. in A Day In The Life...

currently eating: pulled pork

Yesterday I made my folk’s famous Pulled Pork recipe. It is delicious. We’re talking 5.5 pounds of pork, an onslaught of spices, and 10 hours of slow cookin delicious.

This is best served on a bun with a good dose of BBQ Sauce and a side of a pickle. And for BBQ sauce, our choice is Sweet Baby Ray’s… and if you haven’t tried it, you need to do so immediately.

On an entirely different issue, I’m taking a half day at work here today so I can make it up to Boston to see Alicia play with the Boston Symphony. I am very excited.

Is Alicia playing in Saturday’s performance as well? If so, I’ll get to see her.

And Sweet Baby Ray is the BBQ master… love that stuff.

yes actually. Alicia will be with the BSO on the 9th. I’m not sure if the BSO people are cool with “shout outs” but if you see an opportunity to yell something like “Alicia D ROX the SYMPHONY” I encourage you to do so.

Being from good ol’ KC, I have plenty of awesome sauce choices.

Now that I’m in Seattle, we’re in a BBQ wasteland. For example, last weekend, there was a big article in the food section of the newspaper that mentioned the best 2 or 3 restaurants in Seattle in various categories. Seafood, Thai, Chinese, Seafood, Steak, Mexican, etc. etc…..

There was NO category of BBQ. None. Zip. Zilch. And it made me sad.

I’ve never been a fan of BBQ sauce, but I like Open Pit. I would love to attend a symphony performance, but I live int he middle of nowhere and even if I didn’t, I’d never get my husband to take me.

Open Pit is awesome, it destroyed Hunts in my family’s blind taste-test.

If you want true BBQ knowledge talk to me. MikeD is a child when it comes to BBQ information. I challenge anyone who reads this website to BBQ knowledge Challenge. I will destroy you. My Wife may not challenge me. We are equally matched and the battle would go on for ages and civilizations would be destroyed in the ensuing fallout.

Knowledge is alright, but I’d prefer recipes.
