Wallet Talk
I have made the aggressive move from wallet to money clip.
An internal battle has been raging within me for quite some time now over the functionality and the size of my wallet. For those of you who haven’t experienced the wallet, many are, by design, large. My most recent wallet was a tri-fold and even in its empty state was large enough to act as a step stool for the vertically challenged.
But a pure money clip could not do. I needed something that was small and thin that could still handle credit cards but that wasn’t going to be a huge pain when the need for cash arose.
Well, this past Friday while in Provincetown, my Father, who was aware of the clip search, pointed out a wallet store. A wallet store!* I didn’t even know these places existed.
Inside I found the perfect item. It’s a credit card holder with a clip for cash. Perfect! Check it out:

*it was actually more of a leather store. They also had hats.

I’ve long been a fan of the moneyclip/card holder combo… I had a nice leather one until i decided even that was too thick… now i use this:

A week or two ago, I had a wallet “lost” that I replaced with the thinnest Tri-Fold I could find. It’s thin enough that I no longer feel the need to pull it out of my back pocket when I sit down.

A money-clip has always been the a horrid idea in my mind, if for no other reason than I hate cash. I’d just as soon use my bi-fold (tri-folds leave the bills all weird-folded) and minimize the cards I carry, so it’s as narrow as possible.

It’s true. My wallet actually has extra physical dimensions which allow me to fit more stuff into it. It’s larger on the inside than on the outside.

That’s interesting. My husband recently switched from a money clip back to a wallet. I guess the novelty wore off.
I am an advocate of the money clip. Just need money to make it useful.

Money clips are lame. Guys are always trying them, and it’s just no good. A man carries a WALLET.
I rarely have cash, but my plastic and other cards are numerous. It’s way easier to get at them with a wallet. And frankly a money clip feels wierd when I sit on it. Of course, we can’t all be Mike D. levels of fat butt, therefore impervious to pungi sticks digging into our hind quarters.
My wallet is thin, but full of stuff I’m constantly using. And I’ve had it for about 10 years now.
