Worth my weight in Gold

November 15th, 2006 by mike d. in Quickthoughts

With today’s price of gold, I would need to have a net value of $1,462,90.48 to be worth my weight in gold.

that’s a lot of cash.

How much space are we talking about here? About 2.35 cubic feet of gold.

Are you atleast worth your weight in Beef?

Remember our BEEF calculations, Mike? Oh, those were the days. I miss the design studio…

Roland and UUIG–

How much are you worth in your weight in ultimate discs?

Last time I weighed myself (few months ago) I was about… 65kg? And I doubt I’ve changed much since then. So…

65*0.175=371.5 discs (rounding up to the nearest half a disc)

Using the standard “buying a disc at a tournament” price of £7 a disc, that’s £2,600.50. It’d be more if you bought the discs at a shop (~£11/disc); less if you were getting them in bulk direct from Discraft (~£4-£5/disc).

Ooohhh, Roland I’ve got you beat, but just barely (depending on how tall you are, I’m not sure if that’s something to be happy about or not…). Weighing in at about 66kg, that puts me at:

66/.175 = 377.14 discs…so let’s call it 377.

And at $10 a disc at most tourney’s I’ve been to, that’s $3,770, or based on £7 a disc, £2,639.

377 discs….all with different graphics…now that’s a fun and exciting thought!

Well, I’m roughly 6 foot 1 inch, but if it makes you feel any better I’m quite skinny and probably a bit heavier than I said.

That’s funny. I always figured you were shorter.
