THE D-FACTO COMPARITOR

November 5th, 2006 by mike d. in d-facto, Features

D! FACTO! 4-EVA!

Welcome to The D-facto Comparitor.

The game is simple.
Look at picture number 1.

Look at picture number 2.

Tell me what’s different between the two. Now to make it more interesting we deliberately took the two pictures from slightly different perspectives (that doesn’t count as a difference.) This was done as a preventative measure for people who are savvy with photoshop and able to do transparent overlays.

Anyway, there are a prime number +1 of changes in the image… so if you’ve found 7 changes, you know you have at least one more left in the picture.

ANOTHER rule: You can only submit TWO changes per comment and you can’t comment twice in a row. If you’re feeling overly ambitious and can’t wait for the others, you can figure them all out and then e-mail it to me.

DEADLINE: all the results will be posted on Friday Nov 10th.

Mike D is going for a cat lady look with a goofy hat and scarf in Picture 2 that is not present in Picture 1.

There is also an apple that migrated to the middle basket from Picture 1 to Picture 2

1. Pen on top of pad and flipped (instead of looking useful)
2. Overhead light for the oven was turned on
3. Dustin Diamon AKA Screech has subbed in for Mike D and is wearing his ceremonial Hawaii Moolah Ooolah Helmet

1. Weird things on the floor that look like weights from a diving weight belt have moved from one side of the oven to the other
2. Bowl by the popcorn machine is flipped over

1. There’s more cereal in his bowl in Picture 2
2. Trash can rotated 90*

MikeD’s eyes are looking rightwards in the second picture.
The sign selling… something for $13 and/or $25 is upside-down in the second picture.

I’ve got 22 so far…
Depending on what he calls a “change.” For instance I counted the moved cutting board/canopener combo as 1 change.

Dark thing on the freezer door moved
Something changed on the kitchen sink, either with the filter or switching basins. Or both.

- There’s a yellow package in the top left cupboard in #2 that’s not there in #1.
- Silver thing in the right-most cupboard in #1 is not there in #2.

- Maybe this is my imagination, but it looks like the white Wheel O’ Chores by the sink has rotated

I thought it looked rotated too. I’m still not positive it’s not. The change of perspective is a bit tricky.

AWESOME.
I was waiting for someone to notice this.

The dish wheel was set to MikeD in the first picture and Mark in the second.

Booyah! I zoomed in and was pretty sure I saw “Mike” in the first picture and “Mark” in the second….I’m glad I wasn’t just going crazy!

Yeah, the perspective change is tricky. But if there was no perspective change, you’d be able to just stick the two in Photoshop and set the blend mode to Difference…

Actually, in photoshop cs you can adjust for orientation in a 3d space, so I think you could actually do it anyways if you had a good grasp on the camera movement between the two pictures or cared enough to figure it out.

I don’t think it has, but I could be wrong.
As someone who used to live there:
1. Gray things on the floor are have-a-heart mousetraps
2. Wheel o chores is actually who’s doing dishes that day
3. dark thing on fridge is a digital timer IIRC
4. yellow package is flour
5. green thing on microwave is a lighter
6. Mike D. is not wearing a scarf…that’s actually a strip that was torn from Jesse’s festive underwear….seriously, he’s HUGE.

Comment by Jon Abad |
2006-11-07 10:48:23

That scarf belongs to Liz actually…

Comment by Ryan Schenk |
2006-11-07 19:25:49

I think it’s not only a timer, but an oven thermometer as well.

I am still sticking by my guns and saying that the grey things are diving weights.

The green thing on the microwave is a small green mouse.

In general, my choice of undergarments are:

Festive? Yes
Huge? Maybe
Sexy? 110%

A fat fish… now let’s see you try to make that sexy
