1 CommentA lot of thought goes into the design of fonts.
Here’s a little write up describing design techniques that we probably all take for granted.

No commentsDearest Readers,
I want to vamp up two sections of this website. The first is ‘favorite posts.’ If you look at the bar on the left and scroll down you’ll come to a list of favorite posts. Do any of you have any favorite posts that you think I should include in the list?
The second section is the About me page. Right now it’s passable, but not awesome. It definitely needs new photos. Any other suggestions?
Rock,
Mike D.

Authored by: mike d.Congratulations to Patrick, Becky, and Liz for being the first to correctly identify last week’s Skyline and Satellite image as San Fran and Beijing respectively (specifically the Transamerican building and the Forbidden City). Last week’s challenge was especially interesting because it’s been the first one that Roland got incorrect. Bummer dude. Bummer.
In any case, this week’s skyline is tough.
Your challenge:
a) identify the skyline photo
b) determine if the skyline and the satellite image are different locations
c) if so, identify the location of the satellite image
Good luck!

Authored by: mike d.I mentioned that I went to Steve and Lesley’s wedding on the sixth of August.
The picture above shows Lesley and Steve hoisted up in all their glory on chairs. I think the picture really captures the surplus of happiness at the event. It was good times all around. (I should point out that Lesley’s expression in that picture was not accompanied by screams of horror but joyful laughter).
Congratulations Steve and Lesley!

Authored by: mike d.So on Saturday I built this year’s BIG castle. Unfortunately, because of the early hour of rising (first shovelfull fell before 6am), I was the primary digger*. BUT, I had the brilliant idea of creating a stand for my camera and then creating a stop motion animation with pictures taken every twenty minutes.
You can see the castle slowly grow to it’s final height of over 5.5 feet, and then watch it get carved by many furious hands and destroyed by the vicious tide.
The first picture was taken at about 5:50 am. photos were taken every twenty minutes until water hit the castle. Then the photos were taken at 10 then 5 then 2.5 minute intervals. The camera shakes a little bit at the end because the water eroded my camera stand a bit. Despite this, I’m quite proud of the result.
Next year perhaps I’ll upgrade my technology and create an even better picture spread!
*Ryan Schenk, Nicholas, and Maggie helped too!
