SKYLINE #3
Congratulations to Tom, Shamus, and Roland! Tom successfully identified the last Skyline as the Freedom Tower in Kuwait. Well done! Shamus was the first to notice the space needle in seattle, and Roland once again brought it home with his announcement that the skyline picture was from somewhere in the middle east. Special thanks to Ryan Schenk who got that photograph for me and Patrick who sent me the satellite image.
I think we’re all ready for the next one, so let’s go ahead and start round three.

a) This is the corner of West 46th Street and 12th Avenue in Manhattan. The ship is the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in the Hudson River. (The give-away is H&H Bagels, any Seinfeld fan should know.)

c) I can’t reveal this information at this time.
a) My first guess was Baltimore, but then I noticed the H&H Bagels, so I googled/wikipedied it, and I come to the same conclusion that Becky does.

You both are wrong. It is Panama City, and it is taken from the deck of the Love Boat. Known to but a few producers, the Love Boat was actually a covert operations launching platform. With a full flight deck and aquatic launching facilities the Love Boat could overwhelm a small nation with its crack team of operatives. Isaac “The Bartender” Washington was the explosives expert with his Molotov Cocktail and Flamin’ Grenades. Captain Merrill Stubing was the leader of this highly covert team.
For anybody that has taken CE3020 at WPI, this is a painfully obvious one. You’ll notice the Ogilvy & Mather building that was the focus of the wonderful book and movie series “Skyscraper.” New York City, New York.
To anyone who took CE3020… haha, you had to take CE3020!

The skyline is New York, taken from the deck of the USS Intrepid.
The satellite is of Madison, Wisconsin. How did I figure it out? googled “football field near isthmus” Way to go google.
This could be the first practical use of the word “isthmus” ever.

If you consider playing Mike’s fun yet pointless games practical, then yes, “practical.”
When I cropped that sat image of Madison, I decided that I probably needed to include that football field as a clue. I’m glad that it was helpful.
I’m on a roll! I’m pretty sure this one is in America too.
Fun Fact:
The white/orange helicopter in the middle of the picture is a Coast Guard HH52 (Sikorsky s62). The bottom of the helicopter is shaped like a boat hull so they could presumably be landed in the water. They only had one engine, so the crews had to wear wetsuits when flying. In case the engine crapped out, they would in theory autorotate down into the water, and float around like a boat until the rescue helicopter crew could themselves be rescued. When the H52’s were decomissioned, my dad scored me a nice wetsuit hood and gloves!
Fun Facts: The others are left to right, Bell Cobra, F-16, H52, Another Cobra?, Huey, and is that a Harrier next to it?
I don’t think it’s a Harrier, the air intake looks like it’s the wrong shape.
edit: Having said that, the wing shape, tail, and landing gear all look right so I probably would place my money on it being a Harrier.
I agree…the downward-sloping wings I think are the defining characteristic. Know any other planes with them?
Only this one, and I’m pretty sure it’s not one of those.
the aircraft that you can barely see has to be the Vought F-8K Crusader it was parked right next to the sea cobra thats the lighter colored cobra in the background..
