Dream

I had a dream last night. And it was bizarre.

I was in a stadium. I was there with Jill and my family, and I have no idea what we were planning to see.

While we were there, a newscast came on informing us that the Earth was being invaded by aliens. Suddenly a huge alien bomb explosion ripped apart part of the Earth and gravity got all weird. The Aliens, wearing creepy white space masks, started landing and pouring through the stadium which had turned into a strange steel tubing compound.

Enter the USArmy.

An epic firefight began. Aliens killing Americans, Americans killing Aliens. But, then something unexpected happened. The moon crashed into the Earth.

Every once in awhile there’s a scene in a movie that is so awesomely explosive that everyone remembers it. The destruction of the death star in Star Wars, the Aliens destroying the White House in Independence day, the tragic death of Jack in Titanic… really the examples are endless. But nothing compares with this dream. Never have I seen something so awesome as the Moon crashing into Earth. I tried making an MSPaint image of the action, and I couldn’t do it justice. So you’ll just have to use your imagination.

Anyway, back to the dream.

The Earth broke up into pieces, with lava exploding forth all around us, and chunks of earth flying off into space. The continent sized chunk that we were on broke off and started flying through space. As we hurtled away I couldn’t help but wonder why the atmosphere hadn’t desolved. And with that, I woke up.

if you read the book Vector Prime, a New Jedi Order Star Wars book there is an amazing description of the moon vs planet battle. So I, and I am assuming Timothy Baird will agree with me on this one, am amazied by your dream.

Okay, with our powers combined, we might be able to make this work.

If you sketch out the scene and I will paint it as the epic masterpiece that it sounds like.

It’ll be like Americanada but bigger!

My interpretation (ph.d anticipated in 2008).

You begin in a stadium, which suggests that you are feeling as though you are a spectator, outside of the action. You are, however, with your family, suggesting that your connection to them is real, and that you have an active role in that relationship. That you don’t know what you’ll be seeing offers further evidence that you are not feeling empowered and knowledgable about what is happening outside of your immediate relationships.

The next vivid image suggests a further loss of control: gravity, one thing we can count on, is lost. The stadium wherein you are a spectator, an observer rather than an agent, reveals itself as your place of work. Perhaps you are not operating with a sense of agency nor true authenticity at your workplace.

The aliens represent a threat, possibly one that is disguised (as the masks imply) but that which you can recognize as a threat anyway (ie you knew the aliens were aliens even when they were masked).

While the fight is happening, you are not personally engaged, but still have what seems to be an observer role. The fight does not take on meaning until the moon crashes into earth. This signifies that conflict in the workplace or in certain areas of your life does not take on relevance until it breaks through something serious. On one hand, this could mean you have good perspective about the tension around you. Alternatively, it could mean that you internalize much of the conflict around you until it explodes and shakes your whole experience.

Note that even though the earth has been blown up by the moon, you are still alive with your family (“the chunk that we were on”). This offers evidence that you see yourself as resilient, that you take your relationships as fundamental to your self-identity, and that ultimately you are unaffected by that conflict which happens around you. The observer role serves to protect you, leading to a lack of emotional involvement, and a ‘go with the flow’ attitude. Indeed, you are unemotionally involved in the destruction of the earth to the extent that you are scientifically curious as to why the atmosphere hadn’t desolved. Science, in this form, signifies a departure from the emotional.

    The end.

My interpretation (ph.d anticipated : Never)

You ate a bad burrito the night before. Don’t eat bad burritos. Only eat good ones.
    You should be ok.

    The End.

Hey Tree, one night I dreamed about weird people who ate hair soaked in bloody goo, and the next night I dreamed that I was shopping with Armaiti and got a really cute pair of boots and everything was on SALE!!! What does this mean?

Alicia, blood and hair are organic – primal even. So, I think the dream about the weird people eating this disgusting combination signifies that you have something repulsive to you that’s part of your life experience – this could be a response elicited from an outside event, an emotion, or an urge, but whatever it is, it seems to be something you like to distance yourself from (as the people eating this combo are “weird”). Further, it’s part of a cycle where it surfaces and then is returned to the body or the subconcious (hair/blood mixed, then eaten), and this being an intact cycle, you needn’t go beyond recognizing its there. Just acknowledging it allows for it to be repressed in a healthy way.

The boots dream represents freedom, happiness, and agency. You picked out the boots, there were options, and you were with your friend. The Sale signifies open doors to possibility.

Yeah, I agree, this is definitely Star Wars-esque. Kurt’s right, this exact same scene happened in the book, and it
was also to blame to the aliens. Jerks. Did a famous wookie also die in your dreams?

I have had the same dream about the Moon. So have many other people. We are not from the States. You should look for other interpretations that the ones in the comments above.
